Manchester City and Chelsea squared off last night in an exciting contest, but the current Premier League champions got the win.

Chelsea gave a lot of trouble to Pep Guardiola and his men.

The Blues took an early lead and played some terrific football.

However, Manchester City prevailed by scoring two later on.

After the match, Guardiola expressed his admiration for this Chelsea side.

“They are so good, they are an incredible team. It’s Chelsea. Football is becoming like this.

Most teams and young managers have spirit and nothing to lose. That’s why the football is nice. Chelsea are playing incredibly well,” he said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.

An interesting stat came from the match. Guardiola’s side had lowest-ever possession yesterday with just 46.74.

The Spaniard commented on the tidbit:

“There is always one thing in your lifetime that has not happened – it happened,” he added.

“So, OK, I have another record, I won one game without possession.

“They are an incredible team with Kante, [Mateo] Kovacic, Jorginho, so it can happen.”

The Citizens are now nine points behind the Reds again in the Premier League table.
