Roberto Pereyra came to Watford back in 2016 from Juventus and it was a surprising move for a lot of people as he had a good position in his former team – but he wanted to play in the Premier League.
Gino Pozzo, the current Watford owner, brought Pereyra to Udinese a couple of years ago and he played a crucial role also in his move to England as the player insisted that he persuaded him to join the Hornets.
The former Juventus midfielder spoke about this transfer as he said, according to hertfordshiremercury.co.uk:
“Gino was the determining factor.”
“I obviously knew him from the past at Udinese and knowing how he works. I know he believed in me and that I could trust him. Having Gino was one of my main factors.”
“It was a very hard choice because Juventus were winning many things. We are talking about one of the greatest clubs in the world.”
“Yes, this is the Premier League but Juventus, well, are Juventus. At the beginning, it was complicated – it was another country, there was this whole settling in. It was quite overwhelming.”
