With a smashing 3-0 victory, the Peru National Team shocked the world by eliminating Chile and reaching the Copa America final.

Underestimating Peru was Chile’s greatest mistake in this Copa America played in Brazil, this has been the most surprise-filled tournament in recent memory.

Ricardo Gareca’s squad has gone through a roller coaster of emotions that took Peru from the very bottom to the very top of the world in a matter of minutes.

The manager will always remember that rude Peruvian journalist who made the manager’s analysis out of anger and completely forgot about his profession.

Gareca was the most hated man in that country but he is the most beloved person right now.

This brought his national team back to a World Cup after 36 years, and now he took them to their first Copa America final in 44 years.

But the road to this incredible result wasn’t easy, they had to get past Chile first.

Reinaldo Rueda’s squad presented itself as one of the most competitive in the whole competition, they eliminated Colombia in the quarterfinal and were considered favorites to reach the last match of the tournament.

Even Brazil expected Chile to play against them on Sunday but everybody underestimated Peru, nobody should ever overlook the underdog.

You all know how much we love a good underdog story, we got one of those today and what a great way to remind us that football is the most beautiful sport in the world.

The game started with a lively box-to-box exchange between both sides, Chile had a couple of chances that goalkeeper Gallese saved.

The Peru international was one of the most important players on the pitch, he was already one of the heroes in this Copa America.

The other player who gave an impressive performance was Andre Carrillo, the Benfica midfielder provided two assists throughout the game.

The first one came during the first goal of the evening, which came just after the 20th-minute mark.

Carrillo deviated a short cross from the right that Flores found with a good advantage, the Monarcas Morelia winger scored the first goal of the evening with a crossed left-footed finish.

Carrillo provided the second assist just before half time after goalkeeper Arroyo got out of his box to defend a dangerous chance.

Yotun received the ball with an empty goal, it didn’t take too much for him to score Peru’s second goal.

All the Chile players were completely shocked by everything that was happening, they couldn’t believe their bad fortune.

After the break, we were about to get a proper show from Gallese against all the Chile forwards.

The Peruvian goalie made a handful of impressive saves that made him the semifinal’s MVP.

Chile went all in during the second half, Edu Vargas sent a header straight to the post during a corner kick right after the game started again.

Gallese grew more important by the minute with several saves against Alexis, Vargas, Vidal, and more Chilean players who grew more frustrated as time went by.

Peru’s advantage gave them the chance to take full control of the game, they had a few more chances but their aim wasn’t as good during the second half.

We still had one more goal from them to enjoy though, it came from striker Paolo Guerrero.

The Internacional star received a ball between the lines from Tapia on the very last minute of the game, that was more than enough for him to get his goal.

With Peru’s third of the evening, Paolo made history by surpassing Eduardo Vargas as the active player with the highest number of scored goals in Copa America history.

This defeat was a huge blow for Chile, they will have to play for the third place against Argentina.

At least Messi will get his chance for revenge against the Chileans, suddenly this game for the third and fourth place became a lot more interesting.

The final between Peru and Brazil will take place on Sunday at Maracana Stadium, it’s going to be a very exciting match.
