Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit wants Unia Emery fired and Glasgow Ranger’s boss and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard to replace him.

The list of potential candidates to replace the under-fire Unai Emery gets longer by the day.

As another former player weighs in on the topic, another name has been thrown into the hat.

Former French international and Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit has now had his say, and it’s not good from Unai Emery’s perspective.

In his column with Paddy Power, Petit pulls no punches in his opinion of Emery, just like many of the fans, he wants Emery out.

He even has a new suggestion for his replacement.

He said:

“I believe it’s time for Unai Emery to leave Arsenal.”

“The club needs a great leader now.”

“Steven Gerrard, for example, is like this.”

“I want to see passion, emotion. Someone who, when he takes your hand, you can feel the electricity.”

“I want someone who can bring that to the Arsenal dressing room because they need to wake up.”

He feels things are just too far gone under Emery.

He added:

“My opinion is that most of the players have given up on Emery, so it’s time for him to go.”

If not Gerrard then perhaps a former player can get the job done.

He continued:

“Is there a former Arsenal great you can call, like Thierry Henry or Patrick Vieira? Pick one: there are so many. You even have Freddie Ljungberg already in the dugout.

For the time being Emery has the backing of the club, but if things don’t improve soon, the list of potential candidates is apparently endless.
