Everton players have the quality to cause an upset for Liverpool when the two sides meet on Premier League return, declares Jordan Pickford.

June 17 will see the 2019/20 season of the Premier League continue from where it stopped three months earlier owing to the widespread of the deadly coronavirus.

Liverpool will go up against Everton on June 21, the first full weekend of action after the campaign resumes.

Jurgen Klopp‘s men are just two wins away from dethroning Manchester City as champions while Carlo Ancelotti‘s are pushing for a Champions League finish.

Everton do not exactly have fond memories of facing their Merseyside counterparts this season, having suffered a 5-2 in the reverse fixture in December and getting knocked out in the FA Cup against them a month later.

Jordan Pickford, however, is convinced that his side have both the desire and the capability to come out on top in the upcoming derby.

“We want to win every game we play and any sort of derby match is massive for the fans and for players,” Pickford told Sky Sports.

“We want to show how good we can be and we have an opportunity to beat them. We know they are a good side, they are top of the league. We just want to do our best and try to beat them.

“We know we have the ability in the squad to beat them. We just want to do it for ourselves and our fans.”
