Stefano Pioli is targeting the Coppa Italia as AC Milan’s lifeline in order to return to European football.
AC Milan has no hope in the challenge for the Scudetto. The chances of a top-four finish to qualify for the Champions League are virtually impossible too.
As the Rossoneri languish in 10th place, even the Europa League places in Serie A seen highly unlikely.
Therefore manager Stefano Pioli is priorotizing the Coppa Italia.
In an interview reported by Football Italia, it is not just a glorious piece of silverware for the club, but also a crucial route into Europe for them too.
“The Coppa Italia is an important competition, it has always been.”
“It is even more now that it helps you qualify for the Europa League.”
“We are a great club, we have a great history, so the Coppa Italia should be an important objective to achieve.”
Milan has won the Coppa Italia five times before and been runners-up nine times.
They have in fact made the final three out of the last four years.
