Stefano Pioli is pleased with AC Milan’s progress this season but wants his team to raise their performances even further the next season.
AC Milan have all but booked their place in the European League as they near a six-placed finish in the Serie A table.
Milan had a troubling start to the season but managed to turn the corner spectacularly and are currently on an unbeaten streak of 11 games across all competitions.
They will look to keep their unbeaten run intact when they welcome Cagliari to the San Siro to play the final game of the Serie A season on Saturday.
Coach Stefano Pioli explained earlier that his side’s resurgence has been a product of several factors, apart from Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contributions.
As Football Italia reports, Pioli, while challenging his side to do even better the next season, says he is ‘sad’ that this season is approaching its end.
“I’m sad the season is over,” he said at a press conference. “The lads have given everything and need to rest.
“There’s a great harmony between us, there’s the desire to work and this gratifies our job. I’m sure that I will find the same atmosphere when we start again.
“Even if we have done so much, we must do even better. Milan must fight for the top positions; we have to develop even further.”
