Barcelona defender Gerard Pique teased that they are only getting started in the Champions League after winning Group B on Wednesday
The Spain international scored his third goal of the season in Barcelona’s 2-1 win at PSV Eindhoven after slotting home Lionel Messi’s free-kick for their second of the game.
The result in Holland confirmed Barcelona as Group B winners with Tottenham and Inter Milan still fighting over second-place heading into the last match.
But Pique admits that their comfortable position in the group table doesn’t really tell the true story.
“This year’s group was one of the most difficult in recent years but we have been comfortable winners in most of the games,” Pique told the club website.
“We were more in control of the game in the second half and could have scored more goals, but instead we suffered a bit in the last ten minutes.”
The four-time Champions League winners are looking good for a first title since 2015.
“We’re looking strong for the remaining games in the competition,” added Pique.
“The best has yet to come and this team knows exactly how to compete in the Champions League”
Barcelona’s final Group B match will be at home to Tottenham on December 11.
Meanwhile, they will now turn their focus to Sunday’s home game against Villarreal on Sunday in La Liga.
