Ernesto Valverde has warned Gerard Pique that he will be dropped from the squad if his focus shifts from Barcelona.

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has been busy elsewhere the last few days of the week. Pique’s company Kosmos is involved in the transformation of tennis’ reputed competition Davis Cup. Therefore, the Spanish center back has been traveling to Madrid for meeting ends of his business.

Although Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde is not concerned about Pique’s absence from Camp Nou, he has urged the Spaniard to remain focused at least during the matchdays. The Blaugranas will face Leganes in their upcoming La Liga match.

“I have talked with him about this issue and I see him as being focused,” Valverde said.

“If I don’t think he’s focused enough someone else will play. If he arrives in condition, he will be on the list. He has issues outside of football. Players are always blamed if they don’t do anything else and only know football.”

“If he travels, you will see if we gave him permission. We have to leave him alone, Saturday we have an important game.”

Ernesto Valverde also talked about Antoine Griezmann. Despite his bad form, the head coach suggested that he is satisfied with the recent performances of the Frenchmen.

“I look at my team, what matters to me is how I see the team,” he said as per Goal.com.

“I know there are many eyes on Griezmann but he is giving us many things in terms of work, goals, and clarity of play. We think he can give us more.”
