The Serie A top scorer of the season has now failed to score in each of his last three league outings.
Andrea Pirlo believes Cristiano Ronaldo did not perform “badly” in Juventus’ 1-1 against Fiorentina on Sunday.
Ronaldo cold have earned all three points for Juventus but missed an easy opportunity from close range late in the game.
The Portuguese superstar’s performances have come into question lately with him being unable to find the back of the net in each of the last three league appearances.
He last got on the scoresheet against Napoli. He was unable to extend his goal tally in the 3-1 win over Genoa and against Parma.
Fans have been calling out the team talisman after his latest subpar performance, but the Bianconeri boss feels the criticism isn’t justified.
“I don’t think Ronaldo did badly,” Pirlo asserted on Sky Sport Italia when asked if he considered subbing Ronaldo off during the game.
“He had a few chances and overall was not bad. It was the team that should’ve attacked the space more, and we did see some of that in the second half, as Fiorentina had a high line.”
