Has Unai Emery’s ill-fated time at Arsenal marred the resume of a one-time prized manager?
Unai Emery has a track record as a manager enviable by most.
This is the man who won three Europa Leagues back to back with Sevilla.
A manager placed in charge of the PSG project for two years.
He came into North London charged with taking over from long-time Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
However, after leading the club to the Europa League final, missing out on Champions League qualification and a poor start to his second season was enough to get him the boot.
It appears now though, while there are interested parties in his services, nobody actually wants him.
Speaking to SE12, he admits clubs have enquired and he has even had interviews but nothing more.
“I have several teams interested in me, but I have not received offers to return to coach.”
“Everton was interested in me and I thought about it. I didn’t say no, we also had a three-hour interview.”
Someone will eventually snap him up and give him the opportunity to resurrect his reputation and career. But for now, he himself is in no hurry.
“I want this to be a pause for reflection.”
“I would love to go back to work in Spain but I do not exclude anything.”
Do some of his stats at Arsenal scare off potential employers?
