Pochettino calls for more bravery in his team

With yesterday’s loss away at Leicester, Tottenham is now facing a season-opening crisis with just one league win.

The North-London team started the league on the wrong foot. With just five points from five matches, Tottenham needs to do a lot more to fight for the Champions League spots.

Most realistic Tottenham fans realize that the title challenge isn’t realistic at this point. The main rivals, Liverpool and Manchester City, just look too good and too strong for anyone else.

However, even the most pessimistic couldn’t predict such a bad start to the season.

Even though the league campaign started promising with a draw away at Manchester against City, the losses against Newcastle and Leicester tell a different story.

Pochettino was interviewed by talkSPORT where he talked about his team’s prospects this season and plans for the future:

“Bad luck for us! Disappointed but I accept the rules, I accept the system of the game and I’m not going to blame or complain.

“Sometimes football is difficult to explain…we go 2-0 or 1-0 up but then at some point the game turns against us.

“That’s happened in many games and of course I’m disappointed. We need to analyse to try and improve.

“I trust in my players and my squad and for sure we’re going to improve. I am happy with the performance. We played more like we did against Crystal Palace.

“I like when we are winning, when we are playing in the final of the Champions League.

“These type of situations demand the type of character and the big balls and to be brave to work hard and to try to face the problems.”
