Ossie Ardiles reveals that his compatriot Mauricio Pochettino has a firm offer on the table to become Newcastle United’s manager.
Since the talk of a takeover at Newcastle, Steve Bruce’s future at the club has been a major talking point.
Many Jordie fans were not happy at Bruce’s appointment, and with a potentially game-changing financial windfall from their new owners, they want a top manager to come in.
While some have suggested the likes of Max Allegri, or even a Rafa Benitez return, former Tottenham boss Pochettino has emerged as a favorite.
There has been nothing official announced with regard to the takeover never mind the change in manager.
But it seems that Bruce’s days are numbered.
Former Newcastle and Spurs boss Ossie Ardiles has revealed to The Mirror that his compatriot Pochettino is eager to stay in England and has a firm offer on the table.
Ardiles rubbished reports that Pochettino is heading back to Argentina.
“He is linked with Newcastle United and when he spoke directly to that club there were many first-rate people involved who made him a good offer.”
“Mauricio had a relationship with Tottenham, but last Tuesday his situation was unlocked and he is free to coach.”
“In this way, he will hear offers again, but Newcastle is a firm possibility to work again.”
“He will take his time to think and wait a little for all this to happen.”
It is surely only a matter of time before a manager of Pochettino’s caliber is back in the hot seat, but with who?
