Paul Pogba is reportedly set to join Real Madrid in the winter transfer window.
Real Madrid are level on points with arch-rivals Barcelona, only behind on goal difference. They have a similar position in their Champions League group and almost have a foot in the next stage.
But rewind back to the end of last season and this was far from the situation at the Bernabeu.
Los Blancos finished third in La Liga and crashed out of the UCL following a humiliating defeat at the hands of Ajax. Florentino Perez, in an attempt to save further blushes, appointed the back-to-back Champions League winner Zinedine Zidane.
Zidane was given a huge budget and independence to rebuild the team as he wished. Paul Pogba was the name that topped the Frenchman’s wishlist. But, for whatever reasons, Zidane could not make Pogba wear the white shirt.
But recently, Spanish magazine Cope suggested that Real Madrid have reignited their interest in the French midfielder.
Paul Pogba has been out of field following a foot injury. As a result, the 26-year-old has missed a majority of this season. Pogba, who has openly suggested that he would like to take new challenges, is forcing his way out of Old Trafford.
The report also suggested that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to let his starman leave for a fee of €150 million.
