Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope has expressed his desire to become England’s no 1 goalkeeper but admits he might have to wait a little longer for that.

Nick Pope already has one eye on the England no 1 spot.

Over the past few seasons, the England international has risen to be Burnley’s no 1 goalkeeper and has continued to impress till present.

This season, Pope currently leads the way in most clean sheets with 11 and has been one of the standout players for Burnley yet again.

On the international scene, the 28-year-old has been a regular name too but still has some work to do to displace current no 1 Jordan Pickford.

Asked about the England no 1 role, Pope expressed his desire to be the preferred name but admits he might have to wait a bit for that to happen.

What does Pope have to do to dislodge Pickford? “Ha ha, good question,” Pope replied when asked a question in an interview with the Guardian.

“But one of my main things is not to look too far ahead. I’m really looking after myself at Burnley. England is so far away, even though being the No 1 is something that I want. It’s a real dream of mine to play at Wembley and to represent England as many times as possible.”

The goalkeeper has recently been linked with a move to Chelsea and has been tipped to make a big move in the summer.
