FC Porto manager Sergio Conceicao will be concentrating primarily on his defence for their Champions League encounter against Liverpool
Porto have a poor record against English sides with their last victory coming against Manchester United back in 2004, when they won the Champions League under Jose Mourinho.
Undaunted by this statistic, Conceicao has instead revealed that he will be aiming for “defensive consistency” from his team. The Portuguese coach believes that is the key to beating Liverpool, who may enjoyed many goals this season with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
“As I said, often the key is the defensive consistency of the team. Not conceding goals, we are always closer to winning the game, no doubt,” Conceicao said, according to Daily Star.
“We will face a very strong team, with a budget of over €200m (£178m), but two historical clubs face each other and the players give me the confidence to think that we can pass this tie.”
The two sides will meet on Wednesday night at the Estadio do Dragao.
