Portugal and Spain played an engaging friendly game on Wednesday. The match ended up 0-0 as players warm-up for the upcoming Nations League fixtures.

Luis Enrique’s side controlled the first half of the game. Although, a crossbar kept Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal away from winning in the second half.

Either side tested out new players who played for the first time for their nations. Consequently, Adama Traore featured in the game. He almost assisted Dani Olmo for a winner.

Subsequently, Rui Patricio saved Portugal three times in the starting 17 minutes. He blocked a second-minute attempt from Gerard Moreno.

Ronaldo inches away from a win!

However, Ronaldo only managed to touch the ball once in the penalty region. Evidently, Spain dominated the first half as Portugal failed to produce a shot on target.

Though, the match saw some drama just before the half time. Raphael Guerreiro hit a half-volley over the frame of the goal. Additionally, Ronaldo plugged in a tricky header from Joao Moutinho’s free-kick.

Moreover, Ronaldo almost put Portugal in the lead as he hit the woodwork early in the second half. He blasted a shot from the Kepa Arrizabalaga’s goal area for an unfortunate miss.

Portugal missed the opportunity to grab the victory late in the game. Joao Felix failed to net the ball from a header from Ruben Semedo.
