Premier League would be back in action this weekend and match day 4 is going to really add more content to a drama that never stops giving.
The English Premier League is unique in a way that it never allows any team to relax on any given match day. A team doing well can slip up and hand the initiative to the chasing pack. Whether a team is fighting relegation, chasing the top four or the title, stakes are always high.
And as we get ready for MatchDay 4, we take a look at how matches could unfold for the top 6 teams in the competition.
Southampton V Manchester United
With each passing week, it becomes clear that the win over Chelsea was just a blip in the charts for Manchester United. Premier League hasn’t been kind to the Red Devils in recent years.
Fans thought that the team had turned a new leaf after a 4-0 win over Chelsea but a drab draw against Wolves was followed by a shock defeat at home to Crystal Palace. While Southampton have problems of their own, you can never be sure which Manchester United will turn out on a given day.
Predicted final score: Southampton 1-1 Manchester United
Chelsea V Sheffield United
For Frank Lampard, the win over Norwich was crucial. It was his first Premier League win of the season and the former midfielder would be eager to embark upon a run of wins that could make him breathe a little more easily.
While Chelsea are a shadow of their former selves, they can do much better. Against Sheffield at home, they will have a chance to register back to back wins and we don’t see the game panning out in a different way.
Predicted final score: Chelsea 2-0 Sheffield
Manchester City V Brighton
Whether they’re playing at home or away, Pep Guardiola’s team are once again the early pace-setters in the Premier League. The reigning champions are going to host Brighton on Saturday and this will be another game where they’d further stamp their authority in the league.
While Liverpool aren’t pushovers, City’s squad is far more balanced and deep to easily relinquish the league title.
Predicted final score: Manchester City 4-0 Brighton
Burnley V Liverpool
Liverpool are definitely on song but there are still concerns about the squad depth. After not investing enough in the summer transfer market, Jurgen Klopp’s men could find it hard in the Premier League this time around.
Burnley aren’t an easy opponent either. They’re very organized at the back and when given the chance, can peg you back. Perhaps this would be the game where the Reds drop points.
Predicted final score: Burnley 1-1 Liverpool
Arsenal V Tottenham
The London Derby is up early and it is definitely going to be an entertaining affair. While recent years have been great for Tottenham, Arsenal fans have hope too after investing heavily in the summer transfer market.
The game could be a tightly contested affair but despite boasting the likes of Pepe and Aubameyang, The Gunners may find it difficult to overcome Tottenham who would want to get back to winning ways after suffering a shock defeat at home to Newcastle United.
Predicted final score: Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal
