Premier League team of the weekend

The Premier League match day concluded recently and there were loads of individual performances that really paved the way for yet another great weekend.

The Premier League simply doesn’t disappoint. The matches are always exciting while the individual performances rarely flatter to deceive. This weekend was no different as some players put in commanding shifts for their respective teams.

David de Gea

After what seemed like ages, the Spaniard has made his way back to a Premier League team of the week list. Fresh off signing a new contract, the Manchester United shot-stopper made several important saves and ensured that his team earned valuable 3 points against Leicester.

Harry Maguire

All the focus was on the world’s most expensive defender as he played against his former teammates. The Manchester United centre-back first had to deal with a lot of abuse from fans of his former club but held his nerves well.

There was simply no way past the Englishman on Saturday as Jamie Vardy and Demarai Gray found out. The former Hull man was solid at the back and deserves to be in the list.

Fikayo Tomori

The young defender was in insane form against Wolves and scored a wonderful goal that would go down as one of the goals of the season. Other than that, the youngster was solid throughout and never gave the ball away.

Serge Aurier

The Ivorian has his fair share of critics but we know that there is a great full back somewhere who can really be the difference for Tottenham down the flank. The former PSG man provided two assists and was defensively solid.

Andrew Robertson

Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool, Premier League

The young Scot put in another great display for Liverpool that was full of attacking intent. The youngster supplied Mane for his first goal of the game and was that extra man the team needed while going forward.

Scott McTominay

The youngster has really started to come into his own. In Paul Pogba’s absence, the Scot put in a commanding display in midfield. Not a player who is praised a lot, McTominay is definitely one of the most exciting players in the Premier League.

Emiliano Buendia

The Canaries livewire was the reason why Norwich were able to negate Manchester City’s excellent midfield and orchestrated attacks in a manner that would have made Pep Guardiola proud. With two assists, the Spaniard was the source of everything good the team did and Norwich would be eager to hold on to him for a long time.

Son Heung-Min

The South Korean is back with a bang and scored two goals as Tottenham romped to a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Roberto Firmino

You have to praise the Brazilian for his commitment after he started the game just a couple of days after playing for Brazil in California. The forward scored a sumptuous back-heel flick and could have had another.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

The Gabon striker led the line in the absence of Alexandre Lacazette and scored two goals. Sadly, his defensive teammates were not up for the battle as the Gunners drew another Premier League game that they were leading 2-0 at the break.

Tammy Abraham

The young striker is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting players in the Premier League. After scoring his first ever hat-trick in the league, Abraham now has seven goals already. He simply battered Wolves who couldn’t wait for the final whistle to be blown.
