Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has retaliated that Neymar will not be going anywhere.
The 27-year-old forward’s future at PSG continues to be in doubt amid talk of a potential return to Barcelona, who he left in the summer of 2017 for a world-record transfer of €222m to France.
Real Madrid have also been persistently linked with a move for Neymar with full-back Dani Carvajal revealing in October that the Brazilian had once promised to sign for Los Blancos when he was young.
But Al-Khelaifi, who announced on Saturday that he is “2,000%” certain that Neymar and Kylian Mbappe will not be sold due to UEFA’s FFP investigation, has again stated that the French champions will not part with their prized asset.
“Neither Real Madrid nor any other club in the world needs to call us to talk about Neymar or any other player,” Al-Khelaifi told Marca.
“Real Madrid knows perfectly well that Neymar is not for sale and that the player will not leave PSG this summer.
“We have a fantastic relationship with Neymar and his father and it is built to last a long time.”
Neymar has returned to his native Brazil to continue his recovery from a foot injury under the direct supervision of PSG’s medical staff.
The former Barcelona star has been sidelined since January 23 after damaging his metatarsal in PSG’s 2-0 Coupe de France win over RC Strasbourg.
“[He’s doing] very good,” said Al-Khelaifi on Neymar’s progress.
“He’s an extraordinary player and person. He shows a great ability to sacrifice and great character to overcome this new injury,” he added.
“He has been recovering in Paris, also in Barcelona and now in Brazil. It’s what was expected since the start by the club’s doctors.”
PSG defeated Nimes 3-0 in Ligue 1 on Saturday night through Mbappe’s brace and Christopher Nkunku’s first-half strike.
The Parisians will be back in action on Tuesday away to Dijon FCO in a Coupe de France quarter-final clash.
