The Dutchman is so far undecided on his future club but it appears that PSG are now in pole position to sign the highly rated centre back this summer

According to rumors, PSG are set to steal a march over other clubs in the race to sign Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt. The young Dutchman is reportedly being offered a huge financial package that could force him into deciding his next destination to be Paris.

Although the 19 year old prefers a move to Barcelona, the Catalonian club’s unwillingness to meet the financial requirements could scupper the move. The proposal given by Manchester United is also enticing since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to build the team around De Ligt.

According to the Independent however, Les Parisiens are in pole position to sign the player. Apart from bettering the financial side of things, PSG are also keen on making the youngster a cornerstone of their future.

PSG have so far been unable to progress further in the Champions League. And after multiple disappointments over the years, the club’s management believes that De Ligt’s arrival could potentially change all that. Moreover, acquiring one of the most in demand players in the world would also put to bed rumors surrounding the futures of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Juventus star, Cristiano Ronaldo also tried to convince De Ligt into signing for the Italians. However, the youngster says that he is still not sure about his future at the moment.

“I don’t know, I don’t know,” De Ligt said when asked which club he would end up signing for in the summer.

In what has been one of the most anticipated moves this summer, it is clear that the player is going to take his time. The wait might be worth it…only for the club that ends up signing the influential defender.
