Alexander Nubel is reportedly attracting a lot of interest from Paris Saint-Germain following some assured displays for Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga.

Alexander Nubel is quietly carving out a reputation for himself. The German is currently on the books of Schalke 04. However, great displays for the Gelsenkirchen giants have led to speculation on his future.

This summer transfer window is a big thing for PSG. Apart from the Neymar issue, the club’s most pressing concern is that of a goalkeeper. Since coming into power in 2011, the Qatari owners have never broken their bank to secure a reliable goalkeeper.

In past, Nicolas Douchez arrived for free and the duo of Salvatore Sirigu and Kevin Trap cost in total €14 million. While the likes of Alphonse Areola and Gigi Buffon didn’t cost anything either. The Frenchman was promoted from the academy while the Italian arrived as a free agent from Juventus.

However, the club’s custodians haven’t convinced in recent years. This summer, the Ligue 1 giants have a big decision to make. Areola is still at the club, Buffon has left and Kevin Trapp is set to return to Eintracht Frankfurt after his loan spell came to an end. While he wants to stay in France, it is not clear if PSG would sign Trapp permanently.

Young goalkeepers, Sebastien Cibois and Remy Descamps are not certain about their futures.

According to Sport Bild, the Ligue 1 giants are seriously considering making an approach for Alexander Nubel. The German keeper is also attracting interest from the likes of RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid.

Considered one of the best young keepers in Germany Alexander Nubel has been compared to Manuel Neuer due to his playing style.

“He is spectacular on his line and also has very good footwork. This season, he replaced Fahrmann in Januray and today, Nubel is clearly the number 1. His style of play is comparable to Manuel Neuer,” says Lukas Horster.
