PSG have a surprise injury name on their list as manager Thomas Tuchel becomes the latest club name to suffer a setback.
Thomas Tuchel was perhaps the last name one would expect if there was to be another injury from the PSG camp.
The club have announced that their manager suffered a sprained ankle and a broken bone in his foot during PSG’s training session on Thursday night.
“Thomas Tuchel was the victim last night of a sprained left ankle with a fracture of the fifth metatarsal during a sporting session,” PSG said in a statement on Twitter this evening.
However, the 46-year-old is still expected to be in the dugout for PSG when they take on Atalanta in Lisbon next week.
Regardless, Tuchel’s ‘unexpected’ setback more or less compounds the club’s injury woes at the moment.
Top of that list is Kylian Mbappe who remains in a race against time to be fit for the quarter-final showdown.
Earlier this week, Tuchel said he was unclear on Mbappe’s status but that he did “not expect too much” in terms of the 21-year-old being ready for the game.
Asides the Frenchman, PSG will also be without midfielder Marco Verratti and defender Layvin Kurzawa as they take on the Serie A side next week.
Regardless, Tuchel will be counting on the likes of Neymar and Di Maria to provide enough firepower to stir the club to the semi-finals.
