Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has talked highly about Neymar, and PSG sporting director Antero Henrique believes that was not “nice” for Cristiano Ronaldo
The Spanish side’s president pontificated on the hypothetical scenario of signing the Brazilian, much to the French club’s chagrin, GOAL understands.
It was not a smart decision from Florentino Perez, as the La Liga giants’ president praised the Brazil international earlier this month, on the same day as Ronaldo won the Ballon d’Or. Perez claimed, that Neymar would have a better chance of winning the award at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“Being in Madrid would make it easier to win the Ballon d’Or. Real Madrid is a club which gives all you need as a big player, everyone knows that I already wanted to sign him at one point,” the Los Blancos president said after the award ceremony.
Paris Saint-Germain director, Antero Henrique says that Perez’s words came at the worst time for Ronaldo: “Talking about a player from another club on the same day Cristiano Ronaldo picked up his fifth Ballon d’Or was not very nice for his own player,” he told Le Parisien.
The 49-year-old, who formerly worked with Porto, is convinced that Neymar is happy in France following his eye-watering €222 million move to Parc des Princes in the summer, and has thus refused to entertain the possibility of a transfer, GOAL continues.
“Neymar is happy. He loves the club and is doing very well here. It is not a question of money, it is a question of stability. Neymar has accepted our vision. He is very ambitious, and PSG offered him the space to work on these ambitions,” Henrique added.
The two superstars will have a chance to prove their worth to their teams, as Real and PSG face each other in the Champions League round of 16.
