PSG are advancing to the last eight of the Champions League for the first time after overcoming Borussia Dortmund 2-0 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate.

PSG’s inability to get past the round of 16 has been seen as a curse for many years. It has cost many a manager their job and has been considered an embarrassment to the Qatar Sports Investment project in Paris.

Thomas Tuchel has become the man to break the hoodoo and take his side on to the next stage.

The French Champions trailed Dortmund 1-2 from the first leg. But today’s game at the Parc de Princes was different.

While PSG didn’t have it all their own way, they assumed control and never really looked like letting go of it.

In the 28th minute, none other than the Brazilian bad boy/superstar got the hosts off the mark and one foot in the next round.

Totally unmarked, he got his head on the cross to make it 1-0 on the night and 2-2 on aggregate with his side winning by virtue of away goals.

PSG secured the win in the first minute of injury time at the end of the first half.

Some neat build-up play saw the Germans chasing shadows.

The final ball across the danger zone saw Bernat get a foot on it to make it 2-0.

With the exception of a late red card for Dortmund’s Emre Can after he shoved Neymar there was little else on off e from the visitors.

PSG advance and they could not help but mock Erling Haaland and his meditation celebration after the final whistle.

Unfortnelty for the PSG fans due to the coronavirus pandemic this little bit of Parisian history took place behind closed doors.

But their heroes did take to the rafters to share a post-match cheer with the Paris faithful.
