Paris Saint-Germain have slammed reports claiming that there had been a bust-up between Neymar and Julian Draxler.
Amid a terrible run of form, tensions have been high over at the PSG camp with even Neymar’s return doing little to ease things on the pitch.
In fact, Thomas Tuchel’s side have lost five of their last seven matches. This includes a Coupe de France final defeat on penalties to Rennes last month.
Now, French newspaper Le Parisien made the shocking claim that Neymar and Draxler had a bust-up after PSG’s 3-2 defeat at Montpellier last week.
The German winger allegedly slammed Neymar for being selfish, which caused the Brazilian to retort: “Who are you to talk to me like that? The only thing you know how to do is pass the back ball back.”
Apparently, PSG boss Tuchel and sporting director Antero Henrique had to step in and separate the pair.
But the Parisians released a statement on Wednesday strongly denying these claims about Neymar and Draxler.
“Strange game from Le Parisien: presenting Neymar, a phenomenon of world football, as a player who fights with his teammates in the locker room. How can you invent such things? Were you in the locker room?” read the statement on PSG’s Twitter.
It’s not the first time, though, Draxler has been involved in a heated bust-up. After PSG’s humiliating 5-1 defeat to OSC Lille on April 14, he was caught on camera being restrained by team-mate Alphonse Areola from confronting the referee.
Draxler allegedly shouted: “Why do we have VAR if you do not look? Explain that to me!”
Meanwhile, Neymar has also lost his cool recently after seemingly striking a supporter as he climbed the stairs to receive his runners-up medal following PSG’s Coupe de France final defeat.
