Christian Pulisic is happy to have scored the equalizer against Aston Villa following his return from a lengthy injury lay-off.
A muscle injury had kept Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic from seeing any action well before the three-month Premier League suspension.
21-year Pulisic made a good start to life at Stamford Bridge after arriving from Borussia Dortmund last summer but the injury sustained on New Year’s Day obstructed his development ever since.
But the USMNT star, having taken advantage of the lockdown to speed up his recovery, was able to participate in Chelsea’s last match against Aston Villa.
Smashing home a pinpoint cross from Cesar Azpilicueta, he scored within five minutes of coming on to level the scoreline as his side then went on to win the match 2-1.
“I’m really glad that I could come in and help the team in any way that I could. Luckily I was able to get a goal and also help us get a great result,” the official club website quotes Pulisic.
“There was nothing special or anything in particular, I just wanted to try and use my talents and see what I could do. I’m happy I was able to do that.
“I’ve been out for a while and it definitely felt nice to be back out on the pitch following my injury.”
