New Chelsea signing Christian Pulisic understands that his price tag doesn’t guarantee him a place at Stamford Bridge.

Pulisic joined Chelsea on Wednesday for a fee of €64m but will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund.

The 20-year-old became the third most expensive signing in Chelsea history, a tag he knows meant hard work.

“You have to go in and earn your spot and prove you are worthy of being on the field,” he told ESPN.

Premier League Legends: Frank Lampard

Frank Lampard is approaching the end of his first season as Derby County manager, but today we would like to remember his extraordinary career as a professional footballer.

“I think they definitely see me in one of the wider areas, but I think they also know that I can play kind anywhere across the attack. So I’m ready for wherever I need to be filled in really.”

Pulisic also revealed that he hasn’t had a chance to speak with Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.

“No, nothing like that,” he said.

The Dortmund player will join up with Chelsea in next summer’s pre-season tour.
