Carles Puyol sees a long future ahead for Lionel Messi and sees it at Barcelona.
Former Barcelona captain and club legend Carles Puyol will not discuss a Barcelona without Lionel Messi.
Messi’s future has been a topic of contention recently. Following his fallout with director Eric Abidal his future in Catalonia has been surrounded with speculation of an imminent departure.
Carles Puyol is having none of that and will give no consideration to a Barcelona team without Messi.
Retired Spanish World Cup winner Puyol spent his entire career at Barcelona. He saw Messi arrive at the club and come through the ranks.
He insists it was clear from the start he was a special talent and that he would go on to do great things.
The Argentinian’s former teammate sees this trend continuing for some time to come.
“Why are we talking about Barcelona without him?”
“He is still at the club, and we should be aiming to win as much as possible with him.”
“He is a player that is 32 now, he takes care of himself, and could play on until he is 38.”
“We knew from the beginning that he is a special player, but he continues to break records.”
Puyol is still a huge fan of his former teammate!
