According to a senior organizer of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, that edition of the tournament might be able to host 48 teams.

FIFA wants to increase the number of teams in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, from 32 to 48.

And today Nasser al-Khater, a senior tournament organizer, says they are just waiting for the results of a study to determine what to do.

“No decision will be made without the agreement of Qatar, this is an important point,” he said to the AFP.

“It will be a joint decision.”

“We are waiting for the results of the feasibility study, and once they are ready, (FIFA) will share them with us… to see if it is possible,” he added.
