Tony Cascarino believes that Raheem Sterling is one of the most valuable players in European football.

Raheem Sterling scored a hat-trick in England’s 5-0 victory over Slovakia on Friday night. He is playing an excellent season for Manchester City, scoring 19 goals and providing 16 assists across all competitions.

Tony Cascarino, who works as a pundit for talkSPORT believes the young winger has transformed into one of Europe’s finest players.

“At the moment he’s one of the ten most valuable players in Europe. If you were Real Madrid or any of the biggest clubs in Europe, and you saw the way he tore apart Spain, you’ll be thinking: ‘He’s 24, if we can get him we’ll take him’.

“There will be clubs all over Europe looking at him. What sort of fee would you be looking at? Well, Ousmane Dembele at Barcelona – he’s a fantastic talent, incredibly quick and dangerous and he went for a lot of money, around €140million.

“Raheem is not in the same league [as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi] but he’s certainly in the top ten most valuable players in European football, without a doubt.

“If he stays injury-free, Raheem has everything at his feet to be winning things on a regular basis for his club and maybe, just maybe, his country.”

Top 5 – Things learned from the midweek Premier League games

With the Premier League closing in on the finish line we enjoyed several games in midweek so that some teams could catch up.

However, the former Republic of Ireland striker thinks that Raheem Sterling should stay with Manchester City and Pep Guardiola.

“As long as Pep is there, why would you leave a top manager?

“He knows how much of an impact and influence Guardiola has had on his career to help him become a better player. Why would you want to leave Pep?

“Raheem deserves to have a top manager with him who is going to improve him and keep getting the very, very best out of him,” he added.
