The Croatian midfielder is already 31-years-old but believe he can retire with the Blaugrana in the Spanish La Liga.

31-year-old midfielder Ivan Rakitic has been playing for Barcelona since 2014.

He previously played in FC Basel, Schalke 04, and Sevilla.

But it’s with the Blaugrana where he has enjoyed his biggest success and he wishes he could remain at the Spanish La Liga club.

“My plan is to continue with Barcelona,” Rakitic said at a press conference according to Marca.

“It’s a situation that I’m used to since I signed here, as last year the same thing happened to me.”

He explained: “I talked to the club and the coach, but my intention is very clear.”

“I want to continue and continue enjoying my football because I have more years left on my contract.”

“It doesn’t interest me to talk about my future, but I understand that football works in this way,” he added.

“In a way, I’m proud that other teams ask about me because it means I’m doing the right things.”

“The only thing I see is Barcelona, everything else has to be taken calmly,” the Croatian continued.

“I am trying to here enjoy my time with Barcelona and with these new teammates we want to create a strong group to rectify our mistakes.”
