Ivan Rakitic is hoping La Liga can follow the path set by the Bundesliga and resume the football matches as early as possible.
Borussia Dortmund’s 4-0 demolition of rivals Schalke on Saturday marked the return of Bundesliga after over two months of remaining suspended.
German top-flight football’s return to action is expected to kick-start other top European leagues’ hopes of doing the same.
La Liga chief Javier Tebas earlier affirmed that footballing authorities were working on resuming the league at the earliest, possibly on June 12.
La Liga recently also made advancements over continuing the remainder of the season as clubs returned to group training with certain limitations on Monday.
Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic says he is excited at finally being able to train with his teammates. Speaking about Bundesliga’s return, he adds he cannot wait for professional football to resume in Spain.
“It’s nice to see football has been able to return, that’s exciting. But it’s a little sad to see it happen without fans,” Rakitic told in an interview with Marc Marquez on the official club website [via Marca].
“Hopefully, we can follow that same path. I really want to feel like a footballer again.
“There has been a good rhythm to training. And feeling the movement of passing a ball to a teammate instead of a wall brings you adrenaline.”
