Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic has welcomed reports that Neymar wishes to return to the Nou Camp and has revealed that the door is open for his former teammate to return
Rakitic and Neymar were teammates at Barcelona for three years and, upon hearing of his former teammate’s desire to return to his old club, Rakitic has announced that the door is open for a potential return.
“Neymar’s not said anything to me, but if it was up to me I would open the door for him to come back right now,” said Rakitic, according to Marca.
“Not just because of the relationship I have with him, but because of the type of player he is. I would always put Neymar in my team.”
Since PSG’s elimination from the Champions League, at the hands of Real Madrid, Neymar has been left to ponder his future at the French capital with Guillem Balague having claimed that the Brazilian international was indeed considering his future.
“I believe it comes from the same source – his entourage. I think he’s realised PSG isn’t the place for him, I think he wants to look for a more competitive place to play.” Balague told Sky Sports.
Neymar has recently returned to his native Brazil, as he looks to recover from his metatarsal injury. The 26 year-old is hoping to return to action before the end of the season, in hopes of being ready for the upcoming World Cup in Russia this summer.
