Ivan Rakitic insists he is happy at Barcelona but did not rule out the possibility of moving to a new club.

Ivan Rakitic has suggested that he is happy at Barcelona as long as he is getting enough playing time.

Frenkie De Jong’s arrival this season has made the Barcelona midfield even more tightly packed than before. This has forced manager Ernesto Valverde to drop some of the regular starters. And, due to the 31-year old’s recent omission from the line ups, Rakitic has been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou.

As Marca reports, the Croatian feels that he cannot afford to waste his prime years on the bench and will continue to fight for his place.

“I’m 31 years old – it’s the best age in football and I want to play. This is the most important thing,” Rakitic said.

“I have nothing to say about who said what. The most important question for me is if I can play at Barcelona. If I can play, I’m sure that Barcelona is the best place for me.

“We’ll see what happens, but I’m preparing to contribute as much as possible this season. I’ve been here for five years and I’ve experienced my most important moments with Barcelona,” Ivan Rakitic declared.

“I’m convinced that the best is yet to come.”
