Ivan Rakitic has taken a blatant dig at Barcelona’s powers that be, insisting they knew of the team’s shortcomings and did nothing.

Barcelona are in the middle of a crisis. Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic is not surprised and insists neither should the club be.

The Catalonians put in another lackluster performance last night. The side comprised of midfielder Arturo Vidal as a makeshift forward.

If all that was not bad enough, Vidal got sent off so he is out of the second leg. Plus Sergio Busquets picked up a yellow card so he will be out too.

Add to an ever-growing injury list, defender Gerard Pique. Now the crisis just reached a catastrophic level.

Speaking to Marca, Rakitic admits he is not surprised and if they are honest neither should anyone else be.

He said:

“We knew it was going to be very difficult. It’s hard to play against a team that closes down space so much.”

“We made a mistake and they scored.”

“The solution is what it is. Those of us in the squad now need to pull together ahead of a very important return leg.”

“Our squad is short but those responsible already knew this.”
