Sergio Ramos has claimed not just points are at stake for the El Clasico and Real Madrid also want to enjoy the thrill of beating Barcelona.
Ramos has not had the best of weeks but is hopeful his side can turn their bad fortunes around in the El Clasico.
The Spaniard was given a red card in his side’s defeat against Manchester City in the Champions League but isn’t letting that affect Madrid in the El Clasico.
Only two points seperate both sides in the La Liha standings and whoever wins could have one foot on a potential La Liga winner of the season.
Despite all those implications, Ramos also added that his side just want to beat Barcelona because it makes them happy.
“It’s not just any other game,” Ramos told LaLiga via Marca.
“Despite there just being three points at stake, as there is in every game, El Clasico is a game unlike any other.”
“Beating Barcelona would bring us great joy.”What’s more, it usually has a really positive impact on the group in terms of morale.”
“Both teams know that and it’s something that we have to deal with as best we can to turn it into an incentive that drives you on to victory.”
Bak in December, Ramos became the record appearance-maker in Clasico history with 43 during the goalless draw at the Camp Nou.
The Spaniard could now extend that record further with a 44th appearance and would look to mark that with a victory that will leapfrog them back to first place in the standings.
