The BBC presenter is at the top of our list and it is with good reason. The forward was efficient in front of goal and would have overtaken Charlton’s record had Graham Taylor not been England’s manager. But that debate is for another day.
To say that Lineker was effective in front of goal in an understatement. He was explosive and his 48 strikes in 80 matches. In comparison, Charlton managed a goal more but played 26 more games.
But its not just his goals that set him apart. Like Kane, he stood up and raised his game when it mattered the most. This is why, we rank him the greatest forward to don the Three Lions jersey.
