As he goes through his recovery, Marcus Rashford explained why he is so thrilled to play alongside his childhood idol: Cristiano Ronaldo.

Marcus Rashford grew up watching Cristiano Ronaldo’s best moments at Manchester United and he got inspired. As a Red Devil, there were moments when his game was compared to Ronaldo’s on a number of occasions. He never imagined he would have a chance to play alongside him as a return to Manchester was completely out of the question. As soon as his return was announced, Rashford was one of the first ones who celebrated.

Even though he was injured, he knew that he would get a chance to finally return. Marcus is in the final stages of his injury recovery and he is already eager to finally play alongside Ronaldo. At the end of last season, Marcus made the decision to go under the knife in order to correct a problem on his shoulder. When that happened, he still had no idea Cristiano Ronaldo was coming. After a few months, he can finally feel he is making a return.

Rashford hails Ronaldo as his favorite player.

During a past Q&A with Manchester United fans, Rashford placed Ronaldo and Rooney as his favorite players in the world. Today, he spoke about his recovery and about Cristiano’s sensational return via the Daily Star: “My recovery is – I wouldn’t say coming to an end because obviously I have to keep looking after it – but I’m in a much better place physically and mentally,” he confirmed.

“Last year was a very long season for me, I got this injury at the end of September and gradually it got that little bit worse, but now I’m fully free of that, I feel much better physically and mentally. Ronaldo’s return is a great feeling for me, as a player, but also as a fan of the club as well. It’s always nice when a club legend finds a way back to the club. To be playing with him back at Old Trafford is a terrific feeling and hopefully gives us a push to start winning more trophies.”
