The safety of the fans is first and Vallecas stadium will be closed until renovation work is done around the team’s home
Rayo Vallecano will have to find a new place to find the next three matches at home after it was ordered to close down Vallecas stadium.
The house of the Spanish La Liga club is currently being renovated, but fans complained after the 4-1 defeat against Sevilla on the opening week.
“Today the community of Madrid told La Liga their decision not to hold any events with fans at the stadium from September 1 until the end of the works being done there,” La Liga said in a statement as reported by Reuters.
This means that the game between Rayo and Athletic Bilbao has been postponed.
The match was scheduled for Saturday.
The fixtures against Alaves and Espanyol are at risk too, after work is expected to be over until mid-October.
