Real Madrid have been nominated for the Team of the Year prize at the Laureus World Sports Awards for the third year in a row

Los Blancos enjoyed another remarkable year in 2018, which saw them claim an unprecedented third Champions League title in a row under Zinedine Zidane.

Real’s exploits have earned them a third consecutive nomination for the Laureus Team of the Year along with 2018 World Cup winners France and American basketball champions Golden State Warriors.

Report: Luka Modric agrees a new deal at Real Madrid

Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric has reportedly reached an agreement with Real Madrid to extend his contract until June 2021.

Only two Spanish teams have ever won the Laureus Team of the Year prize in Barcelona (2012) and the Spain national team (2011).

Meanwhile, Luka Modric is in contention for yet another individual award in the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year with Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe also in contention.

The award ceremony will take place in Monaco on February 18.
