Los Blancos take on the challenge of Thomas Tuchel’s men as they look to avenge their 3-0 drubbing in Paris.

It was Angel di Maria who came to haunt his former employers as the two European giants locked horns in Paris. Zidane’s men gave a dismal account of their abilities as they struggled at Le Parc des Princes.

Four matches in to the UEFA Champions League Group A, the two capital clubs are at it again. However, with very different domestic campaigns to look back upon.

While the Parisians are comfortably strolling towards yet another Ligue 1 title, Real Madrid are in similar yet different situation. They are tied at the top of La Liga points table with Barcelona but look uncomfortable in their high league standings. Theirs is a league run to forget while the visitors have comforts at home.

Such is the plight of Madrid that question marks are raised despite the Spanish giants still in the fight for all trophies. But these questions have stemmed from their unimpressive performances and question marks against their top players.

Inconsistent Displays

Eden Hazard exchanged London for Madrid but has failed to live up to his reputation. On the other hand, questions are raised upon high wage earner, Gareth Bale’s desire to play at the Santiago Bernabeu.

It has been left to the shoulders of Karim Benzema to carry Zidane’s team forward. And the French forward has answered Real’s call ever since Cristiano Ronaldo departed the Spanish capital. Along with an exciting group of youngsters, Madrid are battling it out on all fronts.

Real registered an impressive 3-1 win against Real Sociedad but it was marred by the crowd’s booes on Bale’s introduction.

And now against PSG, they have a tough rally call to answer. The dressing room has come to the aid of the Welsh forward but the show match will not be easy to negotiate.

Mauro Icardi, Neymar, and Mbappe will be gunning to stomp their authority. The latter two of the trio have been linked with Real Madrid and would want to give a good account of their abilities.

Moreover, they would want to put the ghosts of their 2018’s 5-1 Round of 16 defeat to Los Blancos to rest.

For Madrid it is glory. They cannot repeat their hapless showing in Paris at the Bernabeu. There is too much at stake.

With both sides wanting a favorable result, the show down promises to entertain the fans and neutral alike.
