According to reports in Spain. Real Madrid have rejected Arsenal’s latest offer to keep Dani Ceballos on loan for another season.
Ceballos saw a decent loan spell with Arsenal in the recently concluded Premier League season.
The Spaniard started out his loan spell in superb fashion but eventually struggled for game-time after injuries kept him out of the squad.
After the restart, Ceballos picked back his best form and put in a number of solid displays for the Gunners.
The 24-year-old was also part of the Arsenal XI that saw off Chelsea to lift the FA Cup trophy at Wembley.
Mikel Arteta has made it clear that he wants Ceballos to remain at the club for another season and Arsenal had been confident about reaching a new agreement with Real Madrid.
However, Onda Cero reports that Arsenal and Real Madrid held talks last week but the Gunners’ offer was not accepted by the Spanish champions.
The report claims that Real Madrid turned down Arsenal’s proposal as the Gunners refused to pay another €4 million (£3.6m) loan fee and asked to pay just half of Ceballos’ salary.
During his season-long loan this term, Arsenal had been paying Ceballos’ wages in full.
The report does add that Ceballos is still not in Zidane’s first teams plans and could still be sold if they receive a ‘better’ offer.
Another Spanish outlet in AS also claim that Real madrid will now use the pre-season opportunity to see of the midfielder can impress Zidane.
