Real Madrid defender Jesus Vallejo has suffered a second grade muscle injury to his left leg, the club announced on Wednesday.

The youngster reportedly sustained the injury during the club’s Monday training session and it is yet unclear how long he will stay out of action according to Efe news.

“After the tests carried out on our player Jesus Vallejo by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with a grade II injury to the biceps femurs in the left leg,” A statement on the club’s official website obtained by The Statesman read.

Solari: Real Madrid will fight for La Liga title until the end

Manager Santiago Solari insists Real Madrid will not give up on winning La Liga, despite falling nine points behind leaders Barcelona.

Real Madrid lost 1-0 against Leganes on Wednesday and Vallejo played no part in the game which manager Solari used fringe players. 

Real Madrid have been struggling to win games since the departure of former manager Zinedine Zidane and star player Cristiano Ronaldo. The duo left the Spanish side before the start of the current season.
