Imanol Alguacil is hoping that Lionel Messi has a bad day against his side in La Liga.
Barcelona travel to San Sebastian to face Real Sociedad in their next La Liga outing. The Catalans sit on the top of the table level on points with Real Madrid and will look to maintain their position in the table.
As reported by Marca, Real Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil feels positive about the matchup against the league leaders. Imanol Alguacil, however, has been unable to hatch a plan to keep the Barcelona star Lionel Messi at bay.
The 48-year hailed Lionel Messi as the best player in history and suggested that his teammates, while do not have the same quality, are very close to his level.
“I think we enter [the match] in a good way,” the Real Sociedad boss said.
“The game has generated a lot of excitement, with no tickets left, with the stadium full, and that says a lot about what the team has transmitted, something which I feel proud about.
“More than the league table and the good performances in some games, what excites me most is what we have been able to generate in the fans based on our way of playing,” he added.
“There is no way of stopping Messi. He has played against many teams and against many coaches. The only thing to hope for is that he does not have a good day.
“For me, he is the best player that has existed in history, no doubt. And alongside him are players who are not at his level, but who are close,” Imanol Alguacil said.
