Real Sociedad confirmed that Luca Sangalli was submitted to hospital with a mild stroke on Wednesday morning
The 23-year-old midfielder is currently being monitored in the stroke unit of the Hospital Universitario Donostia.
A stroke commonly starts when the brain’s blood supply is cut off.
“Luca Sangalli suffered this morning a mild stroke,” read a statement on the club website.
“He is currently housed in the Stroke Unit of Donostia University Hospital, pending the completion of tests and observation.”
Sangalli made his debut for hometown side Sociedad in August this year and has since made six appearances.
He also scored the first goal in this month’s Basque derby against Athletic Bilbao in La Liga.
Sociedad are currently 12th in La Liga with 12 points from 10 games and will visit Celta Vigo today at 16:15 (CEST) in the Copa del Rey.
