According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur were ready to make a €40m offer for Amadou Diawara this summer, but Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti blocked the move.
Calciomercato reports that Tottenham were keen on signing Diawara and went as far as contemplating a huge €40m offer for the Guinea international.
The report states that Tottenham Hotspur made an approach for Diawara, and were ready to splash €40 million on the former Bologna midfielder this summer. Pochettino wanted to Mousa Dembélé with the 21-year-old.
He wasn’t a guaranteed starter when Maurizio Sarri was in charge at Napoli, but clubs like PSG, Bayern Munich, Roma and Juventus have all shown considerable interest in the player.
Carlo Ancelotti wanted to sign him back when he was Bayern Munich manager. The midfielder was barely 19 and at Bologna at the time.
And now as Napoli manager, Ancelotti has refused to listen to offers for the player and Tottenham had no choice but to withdraw.
