After five seasons as one of the irreplaceable first-teamers, Rakitic’s time at Barcelona looks like it’s coming to an end.

The Croatian fell out of favor as Barcelona brought in Frenkie de Jong from Ajax, who took over Rakitic’s spot immediately.

Even though there were some talks at the end of the summer transfer window, Rakitic failed to complete his move to Juventus, thus staying in Barcelona.

However, the 31-year-old only played 200 La Liga minutes this season, far too little for a player of his pedigree.

He also came on last night and assisted Messi for the fourth goal of the match.

Despite this, Barcelona & Rakitic look to be parting ways, as Marca, quoted by Sport, reports that Atletico Madrid is interested in the hard-working midfielder.

The Colchoneros will, however, face competition for Ivan Rakitic as Conte and Inter already expressed their desire to bring in another Croatian to the squad, pairing him up with Marcelo Brozovic.

Juventus and Manchester United are constantly rumored to be in the race for the midfielder, too.

After everything that’s happened this season, it’s very unlikely that Rakitic will stay in Barcelona past January, as the competition is only getting better.

The rumored price for the Croat is around €30+ million, although it’s possible that the Catalans will have to lower their demands with the midfielder’s contract running down in the summer of 2020.
