According to Diario AS, Atletico Madrid is set to confirm Joao Felix’s arrival as a new transfer on Wednesday. They will pay €120 million for him.
Atletico Madrid has been trying to seal the deal for Joao Felix from Benfica, it appears they finally closed the agreement between both clubs.
Diario AS reported on Tuesday that the young Portuguese player should be announced in a matter of days, the Colchoneros will pay a reported €120 million for his transfer.
There is a major debate going around that suggests Atletico paid too much money for this young player.
There are comparisons already being made between Joao Felix right now and Kylian Mbappe back in 2017, when the French kid cost €180 million to PSG.
During that summer, Real Madrid was willing to pay that same amount for the young star and there are many similarities between both players at the moment.
There are many Atletico supporters who feel that Felix has a similar type of quality that Kylian Mbappe had two years ago, but there are still many doubts about this claim.
With this transfer, Atletico Madrid would break their own transfer record for a player after buying Thomas Lemar last summer for a reported €73 million.
Manager Diego Simeone doesn’t seem to care about paying so much money for him.

The Argentine manager confessed that Joao Felix is a player they have been pursuing for months now, they weren’t planning on buying him this soon.
However, Antoine Griezmann’s imminent exit pushed them to go after the young Portuguese player.
The way in which Simeone is trying to justify his decision to sign Felix, is by reminding everybody that the Colchoneros have always specialized on honing players from a very early age and transforming them into world-class superstars.
The manager spoke to Fox Sports about the imminent transfer that Diario AS confirmed early on Tuesday.
“If Joao Felix and others arrive with different characteristics to those who have been here before, then we will have to update ourselves,” said ‘Cholo‘ during the interview.
“In training, we will see how they are going,” said ‘Cholo’.
“It is clear that this year’s challenge is one of the toughest since we arrived at the club,” he added.
“Atletico are a club who historically buy young players to develop,” said the Atletico coach.
“We want a guy with talent and who can absorb our ideas, like Oblak did when he came, who was not the Oblak we know today, and like Gimenez or when Lucas Hernandez arrived at the academy, like Griezmann when he came, who not the same as he is today.”

Comparisons with Antoine Griezmann.
Although there is an important part of Real Madrid supporters who believe Joao Felix will not be the great player people think, there are comparisons with Griezmann that are tough to ignore.
The French forward wasn’t nearly as good as he is today when he arrived from Real Sociedad, but Simeone and his team helped him become the star he is today.
Felix has been absolutely outstanding this season, which is more than enough incentive for the club to make the record-breaking effort.
The club has ‘Profe’ Ortega to help the kid grow his muscular mass to a point where he can perform even better than now.
Joao Felix is not only Atletico Madrid’s greatest hope for the future once he gets announced, but he is also Portugal’s biggest candidate to eventually become Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement after the Juventus star decides to hang up his boots.
Diego Simeone is the ideal manager who can bring out the best from Felix, we will see him improving as a professional footballer over the next few years after getting announced by the Colchoneros.
Atletico just beat Manchester City to the punch with this player, allegedly.
