Report: Attempted attack on Messi in Ibiza

Reports are emerging of an attempted attack on Lionel Messi in an Ibiza nightclub.

The Mirror has apparent footage of Messi being led away by security from a man appearing to attack the Barcelona Superstar.

The security camera appears to show the bodyguards surrounding the player, before whisking him to safety.

Teammates Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba were also at the club, as was a friend and former teammate Cesc Fabregas.

The video has gone viral on social media. It is believed the player did nothing to provoke the would-be attacker.

Argentine International is still on holiday with his family. He has been granted extended time off due to his participation in the COPA America.

Messi led his national team to the semi-finals and a third-place play-off game. He was sent off in the third-place game against Chile. He received a one international match ban for that red card. Nothing has been said or done, however, about his recent comments.

His international career has never quite reached the heights of his domestic game.

While the five-time Ballon D’Or winner has over 30 trophies from his Barcelona Career. His only International winner’s medal of note is an Olympic Gold medal from 2008.

His made recent comments after the third-place game this year in Brazil. He said that corruption was at the heart of the Argentine national team’s lack of success.

While he has not participated at all in pre-season, it is thought he will be fit for the opening day of the season. The Catalonians face Athletico Bilbao in their first match of the La Liga Season.

The Barca fans await the mouth-watering prospect of seeing Messi, Suarez, and Griezmann line up on the same team for the first time.
